Durham CAN Assembly
Sunday, March 13
2:00-3:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian (305 E. Main Street)
Durham CAN (Congregations, Associations, and Neighborhoods) is a non-partisan group that works to identify the issues most important to the citizens of Durham. Right now, the issues identified include youth opportunity, affordable housing, and community policing.
At Durham CAN Assemblies, hundreds of Durham residents meet with candidates for school board, county commissioners, and other public elected officials to learn about where they stand on those issues.
This year, the Durham CAN Youth Team (which includes our own Rachel Sauls) has set a goal of having 100 teenagers from across Durham to be present for this meeting. If you can participate, please let Rachel or me know. This is sure to be a dynamic experience!
Road Trip to Frankie’s Fun Park!
Sunday, March 13
After youth choir rehearsal and youth supper at the church, we’ll head out at 5:30 p.m., enjoy three attractions (Go-Karts, Laser Tag, etc.), and return to church by 7:30 p.m. Hmmm….methinks a “Battle of the Small Groups” Laser Tag competition could be most intriguing!!!
Bring $10 to help subsidize the cost.
Durham CROP Walk
Sunday, March 20
WSBC will be joining thousands of others in the annual Durham CROP Walk. Addison Oliver is leading our team with the help of Jenny Leinbach and Jennifer Martin. If you would like to participate, contact Jennifer (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Addison (email@example.com).
Sunday, April 10
Theme: “Feasting and Feeding” (John 21:1-19)
We’d like for all WSBC youth to join us in the choir loft at 9:00 a.m. on this day as we prepare to lead the morning worship service. Our High School seniors will be our featured worship leaders, the Youth Choir will sing, and we’ll also share additional songs, prayers, and readings. Please make plans to attend!
