Join us for one of two July Forums offered by the Adult Education Ministry. The Forums meet at 9:45 on Sunday mornings and provide opportunities to expand our experience, enrich our faith formation, and get to know others in our church family.
The Spiritual Child: Cultivating Space
We live in an era where elements of the spiritual aren’t given a lot of value by the larger culture. How do we at WSBC support each other as our children grow from infants to young adults? How important is a spiritual life to our children and teenagers? Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, Sunday School teachers, and all who care for children are invited to join Maggie Ellis Chotas for diving deeply into how we can cultivate the spiritual lives of our children. Lisa Miller’s book The Spiritual Child will serve as a guide. Experts also will join us as guides on this exploration.
Scriptures that Guide or Transform My Life
In The Good Book, preacher and theologian Peter Gomes wrote the following, describing his introduction:
“My apologie is an argument in favor of taking the Bible seriously, and it is addressed in part at least to those who either trivialize it or idolize it, and who thereby miss its dynamic, living, and transforming quality.”
In an effort to inspire and challenge us to delve into the Bible’s “dynamic, living, and transforming quality”, we offer this Forum. Join us as the following offer reflections from the role of scripture in their lives:
July 17: Fran Langstaff, Laura Webb Smith, Jonathan Sauls
July 24: Pat Revels, Debra Freeman, Judy Berry
July 31: Mitch Heflin, Amy Armstrong, Bill Salyers
