The El Salvador Mission Group focuses on our covenant relationship with Iglesia Bautista Emmanuel in San Salvador, El Salvador, and encompasses the following:
- Follow Jesus and announce the Kingdom of God
- Pray regularly for each other’s congregation and their individual members
- Work together for peace in Durham, San Salvador, and everywhere
- Promote mutually in our relationship, knowing that God has given each of our congregations and members unique gifts and experiences from which we can share and learn mutually
- Work together to support each others mission work, especially bringing good news to the poor
- Maintain a continuity of exchange and visits, in order to carry over this covenant to future generations
Since 2007, Watts Street members have partnered with Emmanuel to build affordable housing and youth centers, build the Culture of Peace, participate in dialogues about faith and social justice, sponsor scholarships for school children, and develop relationships with our brothers and sisters in Christ at Emmanuel.
