Habitat for Humanity
Work continues at 107 Robertson Street, a partnership of our congregation with Trinity Avenue Presbyterian and Triangle Presbyterian through December 19. Ten volunteers, representatives of all three churches, work each morning (8:30 – 11:30), and ten in the afternoon (12:30 – 3:30). Workers register at https://habitatdurham.volunteerconnect.com/3Churches/full.

January Mission Baskets
The mission baskets, located in the side foyer and the Fellowship Hall, collect donations for Urban Ministries. Most needed are personal care items for those living on very limited resources: toilet paper, sanitary napkins/pads, men’s socks, and men’s underwear. Questions? Contact Susan Brooks.
January 10 Minute for Mission: The Augustine Literacy Project
The mission of the Augustine Literacy Project is to train and support volunteer tutors who provide free, long-term, one-on-one instruction to low-income children and teens who struggle with literacy skills. Augustine tutors currently serve in 129 schools and after school programs across the Triangle. For more than a decade, Watts Street Baptist Church has hosted the annual fall training of Augustine tutors. Practicum students from George Watts Elementary School ensure that each trainee “learns by doing” as each child is evaluated and then taught 5 consecutive lessons in the course of the 10 day training. Tutoring truly makes a difference in a student’s life. The Augustine slogan: “Tutor one child. Change two lives.” We all know how important it is for children to read comprehensively. Please be as generous as possible.
