January Mission Opportunities

December 27, 2018

January/February Mission Baskets

The mission baskets in the side foyer and the Fellowship Hall collect donations of non-perishable food for Walltown Neighborhood Ministries Food Pantry. Please see the list of items needed next to the baskets. Contact David Heist (david.heist@gmail.com) with questions.

January Minute for Mission

Our January Minute for Mission will be on MLK Sunday for the Walltown Food Pantry. Checks should be made out to WSBC, with Walltown Food Pantry noted in the memo line.

Program on Dementia and Related Conditions

Watts Streeters are invited to the January Faith Connection’s program “You are One of Us: Congregations, Alzheimer’s and Families.” It will be held Monday, January 14, 3:30 to 5 p.m., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 940 Carmichael St in Chapel Hill. The speaker will be Lisa P. Gwyther, MSW, LCSW, from Duke’s Alzheimer’s Family Support Program. Her presentation will address how might faith communities promote inclusion and resilience among members facing mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s and related conditions? For details contact the Faith Connections on Mental Illness, http:// www.faithconnectionsonmentalillness.org. or Dan Winn.

WSBC Missions Lunch

For the last few months, the Missions Committee has been looking at the ways we do Missions at Watts Street and the ways we connect (or struggle to) with God and each other in our work in the world. And we’d like to share this new plan with you. On Sunday, January 27 following worship, you are invited to a complimentary lunch in the Fellowship Hall to learn how to connect with different mission areas and your fellow church members in this new model of work and life together. Come find out how we create community both inside and outside the church.
