Here are some important notes for Sunday, October 20:
Road Closures: Due to the Bull City Race Fest, some roads around the church will be closed and reopened on a rolling basis as runners pass through the course. This may affect those coming to Sunday School but the roads should be clear in time for worship. If you are arriving early, the best way to approach the church is from Gregson Street. Watts Street 101 Continues! Are you new to Watts Street and interested in learning more about the life and ministries here and ways you might connect? WS 101 is a series of three conversations about these very things. We’ll meet October 13, 20, and 27, from 9:45 to 10:45 am, in the Library on the ground floor. Church staff and lay leaders will meet with visitors and new members who want to learn more about the congregation. All are welcome, even if you can’t attend all three weeks. You can just show up, or email Dorisanne (dorisanne@wattsstreet.org) to let her know you’ll be there.
This Sunday is Children’s Sabbath! The 11 a.m. worship service focuses on Psalm 104 – Praising God for creation and recognizing our call to care for the world. Children lead the worship service by sharing litanies, prayers, scripture readings, special music, art, and by being ushers.
Watts Street Sanctuary on the Trinity Park House Tour: This year Watts Street was invited to participate in the Trinity Park House Tour on Sunday, October 20. We gladly said yes as part of connecting with those in the neighborhood. Naomi Nelson and Jennifer Martin will serve as our docents and the tour runs from 1- 5 p.m. Tickets are available at https://trinitypark.org/home-tour/
Fall Concert: at 3 p.m. in the Sanctuary, coinciding with the Trinity Park Home Tour. The doors to the Sanctuary will be open to the public for this concert which will feature Tom Bloom on organ, Curtis Freeman and ensemble, and DCC8 singers from the Durham Community Chorale. Thank you to Melody Zentner for coordinating. Spread the word about the concert!
Durham CAN Statewide Delegates Assembly, Sunday, October 20, from 3-5 p.m. at the Imperial Convention Center, Sheraton Imperial Hotel, near RDU Airport. This event, organized by Durham CAN and other community organizing groups across the state, is a non-partisan, public meeting with candidates for Governor, Attorney General, and Superintendent for Public Instruction.
