Active now for more than 25 years, this mission group began as a group concerned with the threat of nuclear war and the need for the reduction or eradication of nuclear weapons. They attempt to express the love of God through statements and actions of conscience. In recent years the group has focused on issues of gun violence, capital punishment, and racial reconciliation. Last year the group encouraged a discussion of the church and homosexuality. Forums and guest speakers are occasionally sponsored. Without speaking or acting in the name of the church, this mission group seeks to advance non-violent alternatives wherever possible.
The Peace and Reconciliation Mission Group meets on the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the church library.
