Fall Wednesday Night Programs for Adults
Posted on Fri Oct 03 2008

Click on the link above to read about a variety of enriching study opportunities for adults on Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:15 p.m. this fall!

On October 1 Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove will discuss his book, Free to Be Bound: Church Beyond
the Color Line. In this book, Jonathan explores how our ideas of race shape our lives and our churches.
Copies will be available at $10 each. A 2009 February Forum discussion of the book is planned by the Peace and Reconciliation Mission Group. Book reviews are available on line (Google the title) and from members of the Adult Seminar class who have just completed a study of the book. Jonathan is a founder of Rutba House and an associate minister at St. John’s Baptist Church in Walltown.

Golden Rule Politics, a DVD produced by the Baptist Center for Ethics, will be viewed by adults on
Wednesday night, October 8. This DVD addresses the rightful role of faith in politics, with a focus on an
understanding of the separation of church and state, and of the place of moral issues in politics. Thanks to Peace & Reconciliation for offering this event.

On October 15 we welcome Claudia Horowitz, Director of Stone Circles, a non-profit organization that
works to sustain activists and strengthen the work for justice through spiritual practice and principles. Stone Circles recently moved to a 70-acre property near Mebane to create The Stone House, a home for
spiritual life and strategic action. More information
can be found at www.stonecircles.
